What is blogging and how do you get started?
Blogs offer a personal way to espress opinions, communicate ideas, and share interesting links. It is simple to use and very easy to setup. The most common website used is blogger.com which we used in class to set up our personal blogs. To start a blog you just go to http://www.blogger.com/ and set up your account and from there on out it is a step by step process. I believe that blogs would be a useful tool to communicate with students parents in regards to assignments (general not personal).

Wow! I wish it was all that easy haha! Or maybe it is that I'm just not as technologically inclined as some others but I'm trying! I know that it is a great way for students and teachers to communicate so I hope that I get it down well enought to incorporate it in my own class!
ReplyDeleteI think blogging offers a way to express your thoughts and feelings on a variety of topics. It also allows you to connect with people of similar interests.
ReplyDeleteI think that blogs are wonderful tools for connecting with people who have similar interests as well. It gives people the opportunity to connect with people that they might not have otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI think blogs will definitely prove to be a useful tool in our future classrooms, especially in terms of communicating with parents and reaching out to them. The only issue may be the fact that not all students and/or parents will have internet access outside of school, so teachers should not depend on the blog for all communication.
ReplyDeleteI also think blogs would be a useful tool for communicating with parents and students. Before setting up my blog on blogger.com I never knew how simple it is to blog.
ReplyDeleteYeah, communicating through blogs would be pretty convenient for teachers and parents. I agree that general information should be the basis of this communication, rather than personal. These blogs are pretty neat overall. I didn't quite understand the whole blog concept before this class, although I visit a couple sports blog sites regularly. Now the concept is becoming more clear.
ReplyDeleteA Blog is a easy way to publish on the Internet, and share links - basically a journal

blogging is like writing to a newspaper knowing that your letter will be printed, whether you are dumb, weird, cranky, illiterate, or the undiscovered brain, yet it can be very helpful. I love to read the NY teachers blog. It just gives you an insight into the lives of everyday teachers, with wonderful resources.
ReplyDeleteBlogging gives everyone a voice and an outlet. It is always empowering to be heard.
ReplyDeleteIts great that you gave the actual steps needed to set up an account! Blogs really are great especially for up and coming teachers to use to communicate with students and families.
