Ch. 12: Simulations and Data Analysis

What are the benefits of using computer simulations?
There are many benefits to using computer simulations in your classroom. The first benefit and in my opininon one of the biggest benefits is being able to store your data in a form that is so easy to calculate and manage. It is amazing that Excell has all the equations built in to the program so you can automatically find the average, sum etc. of a coloum with just a few key strokes. Another great benefit is how easily and quicly you can convert your data into a graph. With the Excell program if you highligh your data you can convert that into any type of graph  that you want. You can convert it into a pie graph, bar graph, cones etc. I do not know how easy it would be to teach Elementary level students how to use programs such as excell but as far as the teachers using the program I think it is great.

  1. I also think programs such as Excel are excellent tools for teachers to use. Many different types of statistics are able to be included in one spreadsheet to show multiple types of data, and the program includes formulas that calculate sums, averages, etc. for the user.
